Bonn World Conference Center (UNFCCC conference venue)
On June 5, 2015, the German Development Institute / Deutsches Institut für Entwicklungspolitik (DIE), the UNFCCC secretariat, and Galvanizing the Groundswell of Climate Actions (GGCA) organized a networking reception as part of a larger programme of activities at and around the Bonn Climate Change Conference, that help build bridges within a broad citizen’s movement and with governments. This event brought together participants from three related events, namely the Climate Action Fair (including climate action dialogues) and the Technical Expertise Meetings (TEMs) organized by the UNFCCC secretariat, and the workshop on ‘Catalyzing Climate Action for Resilient Development’, organized at the German Development Institute / Deutsches Institut für Entwicklungspolitik (DIE) in collaboration with the Galvanizing the Groundswell of Climate Actions Project (GGCA) and The Energy Research Institute (TERI).
In her welcoming speech, Ms. Ingrid Hoven (Director General at the German Federal Ministry for Economic Cooperation and Development, BMZ) stressed the importance of the groundswell of non-state and subnational climate actions, as we are the last generation that could still prevent dangerous climate change. Mr. Nick Nuttall (UNFCCC), in his welcoming speech, emphasized the high level of non-state engagement, and how an event like this would have been unthinkable in a recent past..
